I am totally obsessed with this weirdo 80s-does-40s surrealist dress. It’s a bit hard to tell from these pictures, but it printed with pumpkin-headed characters s riding on unicycles and juggling bowling pins. So amazing! I bought the dress from The End Yucca Valley at a Current Affair in LA last month. She has the best eye for vintage. I had to wear this dress with my weird banana necklace, that has leather fringe and coins all over it.It seems like I always pick up a piece of
I’ve had this skirt since I was thirteen years old and wear it constantly. I found it at a flea market in a pile of 50s deadstock. I guess there is a point that you should part with your most well-loved clothes…but this skirt has spent 10 of it’s almost 70 years on earth with me. That has to mean something! I’m sure if you are a long time reader of Sea of Shoes…you would recognize this skirt. I’ve used it countless times for so many looks. With a full skirt
Recently I had a cocktail event to attend and realized my wardrobe was seriously lacking in the classic LBD department. My closet is replete with over-the-top 80’s pouf dresses and 50’s novelty skirts….but everything felt too loud for the occasion in question. I already feel like a fish out of water at black-tie affairs, and I really wanted to be comfortable in my skin for the occasion. I began the quest for the dress that would look perfect not just for that evening, but

Yea I know. The white heels were for an event so they served their purpose – until I took ’em off after! If you’re thinking about a non black leather jacket you know I love a good white (or cobalt) but top of my rec list this season is the All Saints Wyatt jacket in baby blue or their pink leather jacket – both are south of four figures and not cheesy in person. I fondled both last week and the leather is butter soft with oversized zips. Bonus: they’re faded
We’ve had two dreary weeks of non-stop rain. I love spring storms but after ten days of clouds, you can start to feel a little down in the dumps. When I woke up on Monday to yet another gloomy forecast, I decided to a) put on something other than a grungy old sweater and b) get out of the house and do something fun that would brighten my mood! One of my favorite rainy day hideaways is the cafe at Village Baking Co. My boyfriend and I are pastry fanatics, and we love to bake at home
How good is this dress? I’m a huge Christophe Lemaire fan and pieces like this are exactly why. The seer sucker fabric is so nice for this weather and hangs with structure. Such a flattering piece. You can find the dress here! Shoes are Celine from Yoox and bag is Ferragamo. This dress is sold out in certain sizes, you might try here too if you are looking for your size. This dress is an amazing 80s-does-50s piece from one of my favorite designers Jan Barboglio. I have been wearing this so much lately, it makes me so happy! Such amazing detail in such a simple design. Wearing vintage dress (similar vibe here) with a Lagos del Mundo tote, straw boater hat, and Stuart Weitzman heels. Do yourself a favor. Next time that you are passing an H&M, head directly to the men’s department and get this cream knit jumper that’s on sale for ten dollars. It’s a plain enough basic and big enough to cover hands in the wind which New York had all weekend. Worn this time with old white Iro jeans and white mules that I have been flip flopping around in for the past month – including indoors! Surplus pic on Instagram! ps. Glad you liked the Full Monty post on
How was your Easter? Ours was pretty quiet although watching kids walking around yesterday afternoon with easter baskets always gets me. As women the chocolate fix remains but we upgraded the bags to carry them in. Speaking of bags, I need help: A friend has this Chloe Faye bag in the same colour (more or less) as the above and she’s offering it to me for a good price. Should I? If I get, the above PS11 may go (any potential takers?) Instagram followers already saw the rock and
I bought this beautiful skirt online and it arrived with a note from the seller saying that it’s original owner had a climate-controlled vault built in her home to store her clothes. This skirt is around 60 years old and is in brand new condition! I love finding items with stories like that. Now if only I could have a vault to store my clothes in…!It’s unusual find a skirt like this in silk. You can’t see very well but it has rhinestones and studs throughout the
I have special memories of Bulgari’s B.zero1 designs …they remind me of my magical trip to Rome last summer. We spent a few days on a whirlwind tour, shooting a video for the B.zero1 collection. It was wonderful seeing the Eternal City in a new light. On this new journey Bulgari introduced me to the new styles in the iconic B.zero1 collection. Created by mistake, when the original B.zero1 was introduced, these styles have remained have remained a secret until now. These pieces speak to
So in January I was in St. Lucia and came back one month later. I know that looks odd and I will tell you why I am here again… Dress: Zara (old). Try Free People (on sale) Sandals: Mango. Reminds me of the Valentinos a little (see my brown ones on Instagram). Try Ancient Greek, Schutz or Steve Madden (love!). Shades: Ray-Ban. Bag: Madewell. Lipstick: MAC ‘So Chaud’ Apart from snapchat, most of you don’t know that I have a house over here that I rent long term to
Oh Gucci… metallics, vintage prints, sequins, mules and geek shoes… Military coat: Zara men. Try Vince or Warehouse (both on sale). Blouse: Vintage. Skirt: Reiss. Similars from Shoptiques and Alice & Olivia. Seen before in this older post. Croc loafers: Vintage. Try Giovanni or Jenni Kayne. Bag: Gucci. Shades: Vintage. Try Wildfox. The whole aesthetic is like rolling around at your favorite flea market. For anyone not sure, I say try a metallic skirt which works with
I’m going to let you in on a shoe search I constantly do….I’m obsessed with looking at Casadei’s shoes on Yoox! They usually get really discounted, and from time to time an insane pair like these red ankle boots will pop up. These boots are not mine, they are my mom’s! They are the shoe I covet the most from her closet. She has a couple of Casadei shoes she snagged on Yoox that are totally out of this world. Right now I have my eyes on these gold cowboy boots! I
